“The last time we checked in with 1 West End Avenue, the first condo building rising within the Riverside Center megaproject, it was nearing completion. The building’s affordable apartments (which will be accessed by a separate—and apparently very nice—entrance) entered the city’s affordable housing lottery last year, with applications closing in November.

And according to a spokesperson for the project, the building is getting closer to welcoming residents: Closings on its more than 200 condos should begin this summer, and some of the common spaces, including the lobby and the amenity spaces, are on track to be completed by then.

Along with these updates comes a change in the marketing team working on the condos: brokers-to-the-stars Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of Douglas Elliman are now handling sales for the building’s remaining units, which range in price from a $2.7 million two-bedroom to a $19.5 million four-bedroom “duplex in the sky.” Its priciest apartment, a $21 million penthouse, sold last year. As part of the switch, a new model unit will debut within the building soon, too.

The team has also released the first photo of the building’s completed exterior, designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli and rising 43 stories over Manhattan. Though it only shows the glassy upper levels of the tower, it does give you an idea of what the views will be like for residents.”
