2. Resiliency + Performance + Health – Designing Exterior Envelopes for the New Frontier of Sustainability

With an increase of acute weather events, newly adopted energy codes and rising need for material assessments, designing facades in Texas has taken on a new set of design criteria to drive sustainability. This panel will discuss how such practices would benefit the threshold of the building skin through a series of case-studies and discussion upon each criteria’s clear importance, including the benefits and obstacles. Lastly, panelists will discuss how one might prioritize this criteria or strive to incorporate the trifecta in sustainability today!

3.  Lamplighter School: Response through Detail

As Dallas aims to preserve its young history, projects within the core of the city are being challenged further to preserve the characteristics of place with which they are responding to. The Lamplighter School is the latest, honoring the legacy of the existing campus architecture as well as the school’s mission. In this panel we will look at, from concept and detail to construction, the design of the new Barn and Innovation Lab’s key responses to client, site, context, and history..
